We had the pleasure of having Matt Robinson, from Natural Digestive Healing, join us again on the podcast this week as we tackled the topic of “How to Enjoy Family Holidays SCD Style.” Family gatherings can be one of the most difficult times to have a digestive disease and follow the SCD Diet. So much of our society has social value on the food we eat around gatherings. With Thanksgiving approaching, we felt it was as good a time as ever to share our stories of Thanksgiving and how we integrate the diet into our families around the holidays.

If you have a question for us about the SCD Diet, go down to the bottom of the post and add a comment with your question. Or feel free to email us at [email protected].

On This Podcast, We Talk About:

2:00 Our first family party experiences
9:14 How to deal with interactions from loved ones
12:30 When you’ve had enough questions, what do you say?
17:40 How does your family show their love around food? If they get negative it probably isn’t what you think it is.
23:30 Takeaway ideas for you to use right away at family parties
30:20 Matt shares the top takeaway point of the show!

Also, if you want to learn more tips and tricks for dealing with family and social settings while on the diet that leave you embarrassed, wanting to quit, and searching for help, check out our eBook “SCD Lifestyle – Surviving to Thriving”.

Yep, WE choose how we respond emotionally and what our attitude is going to be. I am still struggling with the disease because the diet hasn’t had time to kick in yet (even though I feel better than I used to) so each flare up is even more discouraging than it used to be. But I have to keep reminding myself that this WILL eventually work and I WILL be free of the pain and fear one day!

Roxanne… this is the most important thing you said: (even though I feel better than I used to)
