We share success stories for one very specific reason… and it’s probably not what you think.
In fact, we have an entire system inside our company to gather success stories and encourage our community to share their stories with others just like them. Each week, we meet as a team and talk about what success stories are currently being worked on and when we can publish them.
It’s one of the most important things we do.
Not because it “toots our own horn.”
Or because we think it’ll get us traffic from Google.
It’s because if I didn’t read numerous online success stories back in 2008 I never would’ve tried the SCD Diet. I may not have healed my gut. I may not have ever started SCD Lifestyle with Steve.
Success stories were the spark that changed my life forever.
And we relentlessly share as many as we can in hopes that it does the same for thousands of other people going through the same struggle I did.
Without success stories, this would be just another blog. Instead, we have a thriving community of incredible people taking control of their health. Today, I’m so happy to share Richelle’s story. She made a choice. She took control. And she’ll never look back!
I Have Experienced Extremely Irregular Bowel Movements…
Since I began eating solid foods as a baby. I have had a weak immune system since I was a young girl, having had strep throat or tonsillitis 9 times in a single year when I was only 8 years old, which prompted doctors to remove my tonsils. Ever since, I have had consistent viruses and infections, to the point where it seems like I was always sick with something.
From age 14 to 30, I spent a lot of time with doctors trying to figure out why I couldn’t get regular, and what was causing severe abdominal cramping and daily bloating/gas/discomfort in my lower belly. I would often go 5-6 days without a bowel movement at all. Doctors found duodenal ulcers in my stomach when I was 22 but couldn’t conclude why, other than guessing I had low stomach acid and my body didn’t digest food properly.
They Stamped Me with “Irritable Bowel Syndrome”
And told me to chew my food better and do an elimination diet to see what foods bothered me, and sent me on my way. I did everything they told me to do but I have never been symptom-free.
I have continued to experience almost constant diarrhea or constipation through the years, and in the 2013-2014 flu season, I had 10 viruses from September to June, with the June virus turning into bronchitis.
It was in July of 2014 that my sister shared with me the SIBO theory and SCD eating plan, and my life has been forever changed – for the good! I actually had given up when she introduced the SCD lifestyle to me. I was done with doctors and theories. But she had been on the eating plan for several months at that point and was feeling pretty good. I decided to try it too because she was seeing some success and I had been so sick.
Since Last July, I have Followed the SCD Eating Plan 100%…
And in the past few months, I am finally feeling my body heal. For the first time in my life, I have regular bowel movements almost every day, no painful gas cramps, no bloating or discomfort after I eat, my “chicken-skin” skin is about gone, my period cramps virtually gone (which was a surprising benefit), my mood swings are significantly less often and less severe, and my energy level is high. And best of all, I have only caught ONE VIRUS this year!!! I can’t even remember a time in my life where I was only sick one time in the flu/cold season!
I am amazed to feel this good and excited to finally know the root cause of the problem. I don’t care if I have to live my life without grains, dairy, or sugar if it means I get to stay regular, pain-free and virus-free.
