Crohnology – The Game-Changing Network for Colitis & Crohn’s (Podcast 54)

What happens when you know more than doctors about what treatments are working?

How would healthcare change, if every patient was connected, and they had support groups, and they shared what worked, and what wasn’t working?

For the majority of those suffering from Crohn’s or Ulcerative Colitis, this is not reality. I like to think our readers are ahead of the curve, first adopters if you will. And as first adopters it’s our job to use the latest tools, talk about them and reassure others that it’s okay to take the leap.

The internet is here to stay, we are more connected than ever but something is missing. Insert Crohnology.com and Sean Ahrens. What’s missing are micro social networks dedicated to serving people who are aligned and affected by certain diseases like Crohn’s and Ulcerative Colitis.

These diseases can be isolating, life-crushing experiences without support and information. That’s why I’m very excited to introduce you to Crohnology. It’s an all-inclusive network for those who are looking to better manage their health. The creators are more than willing to entertain the idea that alternative medical options are as valuable as conventional. Equal footing for all if you will. Let the people decide.

On This Podcast with Sean, We Cover:

3:30 What is Crohnology? What is the goal?

6:29 “Either every single patient is wrong or doctors don’t really understand”

11:24 How Crohnology can help us understand treatments like pig whip worm

21:10 What have the Crohnology users taught Sean about successful treatments?

23:58 How users can meet others near them through Crohnology

27:27 Where does Sean see this project going?

31:22 Democratizing the healthcare industry… what are the possibilities?

36:23 What are the possibilities of patient organized clinical trials?

I want to thank Sean for taking time out of his day to chat with me. I also want to thank him for pouring his heart and soul into this project. Uniting and empowering patients is a necessary step in changing our current medical paradigm.

Inspiring interview. It’s so great to hear someone with such a nasty “gift” use his passion to create an outreach to others giving them hope and empowering them through their connection with each other. Bravo!!!
