Beth Shares Her Best SCD Baking Secrets (Podcast 33)

by Jordan Reasoner

A while back we interviewed Amy from RoboRanch.com about her incredible SCD Crohn’s Disease story.  What I really like about her story is that her Mom, Beth, jumped right in and followed the diet with her as a “diet buddy.”

Over time, Beth became an incredible SCD cook and started sharing her best stuff on her website: http://www.beth-spencer.com.  She’s authored a few cookbooks, and you can find some tasty recipes on her blog.

Her latest cookbook, Turtle Soup: Recipes for the Specific Carbohydrate Diet from an SCD Mom,” is nothing short of miraculous…

The best of the best in the SCD community support the cookbook and endorse the recipes… and so do we!  With Christmas baking right around the corner, we just had to get Beth on the podcast to find out her best Specific Carbohydrate Diet baking secrets.

In this podcast interview with Beth Spencer, we cover:

0:34 How she came to master baking on the Specific Carbohydrate Diet

6:34 The story of her favorite SCD recipe and how she perfected it

11:23 Her top three baking secrets for creating perfect SCD meals

20:31 Cooking dairy and egg free on SCD?

23:07 Her best advice for someone who’s intimidated by the cooking challenges of SCD

27:30 How to find more of her recipes and order a copy of her latest cookbook, “Turtle Soup: Recipes for the Specific Carbohydrate Diet from an SCD Mom”

Thank you for your time Beth – this interview is going to help a TON of people enjoy their time in the Kitchen :-)

thank you- your baking tips were so helpful- especially about the oven temp’s- I tried setting some of Elaines recipes down to 325 degrees and they worked!
I also found the parchment paper idea worked too.
